Batmobile Fights Cancer

by on Apr.20, 2012, under Nerdery

Earlier this week the Batmobile took a break from crime fighting in Gotham to help battle cancer. The Batmobile, which is most recently featured in The Dark Knight Rises, was taken up to British Columbia earlier this week by its creator: Andy Smith. Smith, who has fought cancer himself, is now using the Batmobile to raise money for cancer research. Batman fans who donated to the B.C. Cancer Foundation were treated to an up-close and personal look at Batman’s crime-fighting car. Look out for the Batmobile in The Dark Knight Rises this summer.

The Iron Man Experience

by on Apr.14, 2012, under Comics

Ever wondered exactly how Tony Stark went from the Mark I Iron Man suit to his most recent, Mark VII, suit? Find out through the design logs of Tony Stark in this new interactive comic by Marvel and Loud Crow Industries. It’s in the free apps section of the iPad app store, so naturally I downloaded a copy. I have to say: it’s quite an entertaining read and the fact that you can click on various images for a wide variety of sounds makes this comic all the better. There’s even a full musical soundtrack to accompany it. This is certainly one app to add to the ‘download’ list. Check out the full synopsis below:

Set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, “Marvel’s The Avengers: Iron Man – Mark VII” is an epic interactive comic book experience through the design logs of super hero Tony Stark as he journeys from his Mark I armor, used to escape from captivity in the Ten Rings insurgents’ cave, to the high-powered Mark VI armor, used to vanquish Ivan Vanko and his army of Hammer Drones.

A war has started and we are hopelessly outgunned. It is time for billionaire philanthropist Tony Stark to upgrade his Iron Man armor for the upcoming battle when “Marvel’s The Avengers” assemble for the blockbuster movie event of summer 2012.

Captain America 2?

by on Apr.06, 2012, under Film

Attention Avengers fans, here’s yet another date to mark in your calendars: April 4th, 2014. On that day, two years from now, Marvel’s sequel to Captain America: The First Avenger is set to hit theaters. This means that Captain America will be the third Avenger to be getting a sequel, along with Iron Man and Thor (Iron Man 3 and Thor 2, both set for release in 2013). The story of this sequel is going to pick up right where The Avengers leaves off, having Captain America work with Nick Fury and S.H.E.I.L.D. in the modern world. Stay tuned for more news about these sequels in the not too distant future.

Real Life 8 bit Adventures

by on Apr.01, 2012, under Nerdery

Is reality a little too boring? Are you looking for something new… or old actually? Well I have some great news for you! With Google Maps’ ‘quest’ mode it’s now possible to browse the real world in all of it’s 8 bit glory. It’s like viewing the globe through the eyes of an NES console. There’s also a video that goes along with it, although it’s a little suspicious that this all coincides with April Fool’s day.
