Halo Centric Division – 343 Industries

by Karch on Jul.23, 2009, under Games, News

504x_haloanime2Microsoft creating a Halo Division, as opposed to an exclusive development studio, is an interesting approach to the traditional development cycle and model for games. They are to manage any entertainment related to the Halo universe, it looks to be the same type of process that Marvel has undertaken to bring all their properties under the same roof. This may mean that the feature film that has been shelved will actually get made. With the announcement of the anime, we will have to wait and see as to the quality.

Attack Dogs FTW!

by Karch on Mar.24, 2009, under Games

Nice Puppy...

Nice Puppy...

I am tired of all this bunk about the attack dogs in Call of Duty: World at War. The high school student that started all of this probably failed history, if she took history at all. Throughout both world wars, the Germans, Russians, and Japanese all used attack dogs during the battles. They were used for transport of munitions, injured soldiers (on a sled), detection of mines, and yes ATTACKING THE ENEMY. If she, or the wonderful people at PETA, would use this new fangled thing called Google they would find many articles on the history of the attack dog. Including instances of the good ‘ol US of A using dogs in the military as well. By them trying to hide the use of attack dogs in battle they are trying to diminish the HISTORICAL significance of these skirmishes.

I remember when these stories would be everywhere…its kind of a nice reminder of some of the tall tales that were told about certain games and series…

A Real American Hero…

Well I’m still on the fence about this…Transformers actually instilled an iota of hope for the GI Joe movie.  The posters just came out and although they look pretty good, did anybody else notice that anyone who isn’t dual wielding has the signature “kung-fu grip”?

maybe its just me…LOL

Heres the rest:

Snake Eyes

Scarlett

Ripcord

The Baroness

Denied again…

by Karch on Jan.13, 2009, under News

05_athletes_04I still think this is a travesty…he is being persecuted for something nobody is really sure what he was taking..innocent until proven guilty my ass…these old bastards have to come to the realization that if Mark McGwire was taking steroids (I say if because we truly don’t know for sure), SO WAS EVERY BODY ELSE AND HE WAS THE BEST POWER HITTER OUT OF THE BUNCH…

Therefore, holding this reasoning they will not let Barry Bonds, Sammy Sosa, Matt Williams, Jeff Bagwell, adn the rest of their ilk?

Can’t wait for the old farts justify those ones…

EGM…It’s been a good run

by Karch on Jan.07, 2009, under Games, News

EGM May 1989

EGM May 1989

Just a couple of words about EGM…This was the first Gaming mag that I had ever read (other than Nintendo Power), and its kind of sad to see it gone…Personally I think the brand is still pretty strong and that it should be used for an online presence.  But that would be up to the license holders anyway.

1 issue short of 20 years…

Thanks for the memories.
