Rob Liefeld Hints at R-Rated Deadpool Movie Test Footage

by on Jan.17, 2012, under Film

Bleeding Cool News noticed that at Amazing Arizona ComicCon this past weekend while in a panel with Scott Lobdell, Liefeld hinted about seeing an R-Rated eight minutes of test footage for the Deadpool movie.
They’ve got a great director on the movie, they’ve got a great script. I may or may have not seen some sort of test of footage that would blow your mind if you saw it and go holy crap and that’s Deadpool in costume. Katana swords, guns, shooting people’s faces off and making me laugh. And I may or may not have seen something that looks just like that. And you’ve got what would amount to the first R Rated X-Men movie. Because that script is R Rated. They may or may not have wanted to shoot eight minutes to see how it would play. And all I can tell you, it’s close. It’s closer that it’s even been to going, or going Naaah, that’s too scary a proposition to make a R Rated Deadpool movie.

Not sure what that means, has he seen it, or is he just stroking the crowd (ayo), either way, I still hate Rob Liefeld.

Last Week showed you had images for the upcoming Marvel Universe 2011 Comic 2-packs, today we have some individual stock photos for Hasbro’s upcoming 13th wave of 3.75″ Marvel Universe 211 figures to try and give you a little better look at them. The new figures included for this wave once again are as follows:

  • Cable (Based on Messiah Complex)
  • First Appearance Wolverine
  • Apocalypse (Based on Messiah Complex)
  • Cyclops (Jim Lee)
  • Gladiator

No word on what the “chase” or variant figures will be, I can assume we might get an X-Factor Cyclops or “Rob Liefeld” Cable. Look for these to be out on shelves by March 2011.

Deadpool Script Leaked

by on Oct.13, 2010, under Film

Earlier this week details of the Deadpool movie were released, but it was unclear if the details were accurate or if it was just rumors. As more time passed, it has been confirmed that Deadpool movie script written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick has been leaked online.

Rhett Reese confirmed the leak on twitter by saying:

From what I can tell, yes, the Deadpool script leaked. No idea how. If you don’t want things spoiled, be aware!

He also followed this tweet up with this:

Deadpool fans who found the script, my advice is, don’t read it early, wait for the movie instead!

Here, in a nutshell, is the gist of the Deadpool script review (NO SPOILERS):

“In it’s best moments, [reading the 'Deadpool' script] is like reading ‘Van Wilder’ meets ‘Kill Bill’, a genius mix of insane dark comedy and ridiculous over the top violence the likes of which we’ve never seen in any other superhero movie before… With the right director and Reynolds in the lead, this script has the potential to be the ‘Dark Knight’ of R-rated superhero movies.”

The reviewer also offers assurance that everything fans love about the Deadpool character has been included in the script – his non-stop motormouth, penchant for breaking the fourth wall, and utter disinterest in doing the right thing are all very much intact.

What of Deadpool’s appearance in X-Men Origins: Wolverine? According to the review, “it’s as though the character of Deadpool exists in a world where ‘Wolverine’ is a movie that he’s seen, and hates.” The Deadpool script reportedly contains numerous references and digs at both the Wolverine spinoff and the celebrity of Hugh Jackman himself.

It was originally intended for both Reynolds to star and Rodriquez to direct, right now it looks like both parties won’t be working together on Deadpool in the near future – however if the script reviewer is right, that team-up could be well worth the wait.

Right now, Somewhere in the world Rob Liefeld is crying.
