Jessica Biel To Play Woman of HYDRA in ‘The Wolverine’
Move over Scarlett Johansson and make way for a new Marvel movie hottie. Actually, come to think of it, the leading lady in today’s story is no stranger to the super hero genre. Jessica Biel kicked vampire butt in Blade III, didn’t she? Meh, that flick was unfortunate and doesn’t count as Marvel cred. Anyhoo, Ms. Biel (Is it Ms. or Mrs? She’s not married is she? Lord, I hope not.) will be strutting her fine super hero bod in a new Marvel film…
Is she Tony Stark’s mistress in Iron Man 3? An Asgardian in Thor 2? Or maybe she’ll be playing some unknown villainous vixen in The Wolverine. If you guessed the latter, well… you’re good at guessing games and aren’t allowed to play charades at my house.
Earlier this week, it was announced that Hiroyuki Sanada, Hal Yamanouchi, Tao Okamoto, Rila Fukushima, and Will Yun Lee, had been cast. Today comes news that Jessica Biel will be joining Hugh Jackman -as one of the few white people – in this Japan-themed Wolverine story.
Twitch reports that Biel has been offered the role of Viper, a member of the terrorist organization HYDRA. In the comics, she blackmails Wolverine into marrying her. Though the move is part of her effort to secure her criminal empire in Madripoor, it’s suggested that she had real feelings for Wolverine at some point.
Hey, as long as she’s in tight leather pants I’m down. Amirite?
The Wolverine will be based on a Marvel comics arc by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller, which sees Wolverine traveling to Japan. Okamoto plays Mariko, a love interest of Wolverine’s in the books, while Will Yun Lee will play Kenuichio Harada a.k.a. the Silver Samurai.
